TLC Receiving National Honor
The Board of Directors of the National Association of Bar Executives has notified the North Carolina Bar Association that it has been selected as a winner of a 2015 NABE LexisNexis Community & Educational Outreach Award for its Transitioning Lawyers Commission.
The award will be presented at the NABE Annual Meeting in Chicago on July 30.
“The (NABE Board) commends the NCBA for focusing much needed attention on this matter; aiding lawyers who are transitioning out of practice serves the profession and ultimately the public,” the announcement stated.
The Transitioning Lawyers Commission, or TLC, is an NCBA initiative established in 2012 under President Mike Wells as the Retiring with Dignity Task Force. The program is designed to help lawyers who need assistance transitioning from the full-time practice of law.
Nan Hannah served as the founding chair of the commission, which is now chaired by Brad Schulz.
“This honor comes from the very hard work that Nan, Brad and many others have done,” Wells stated. “But Nan and Brad are the ones who have taken the laboring oar. The program simply would not have developed as it has without their vision and dedication.”
