Legal Practice Hall of Fame Class of 2023: Claud R. (Rob) Wheatly, III
Claud R. (Rob) Wheatly, III, is a third-generation lawyer in Carteret County’s oldest firm, and the second to receive the Bar Association’s Hall of Fame recognition, his father, Claud R. Wheatly, Jr., being honored in the charter class for this award in 1989. Practicing in Eastern North Carolina for more than fifty years, Rob has been paid tribute by Carteret County, where he has been County Attorney since 1996, and before that, Beaufort Town Attorney, and on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives, for a life of outstanding service to his community. Rob has handled cases from Admiralty to Zoning, and every letter in between, and holds the record for the highest civil jury verdict in Carteret County history.
