Open Door Fellow: Tavaria Smith

Tavaria Smith currently is a 1L student at NC Central School of Law. She is originally from Athens, Georgia, and graduated from the University of Georgia in 2021. She was a participant in Upward Bound, a college preparatory program designed to support low-income, first-generation college-bound students. As a college student earning her Bachelor of Arts in African American Studies with minors in Spanish and Women’s Studies, Tavaria served as a Pre-Law Student Ambassador, Secretary of the Black Educational Support Team, and Ambassador for the ExperienceUGA program. In law school at NCCU, Tavaria serves as a 1L Student Bar Association Representative and 1L BARBRI Ambassador. She has an interest in civil rights and will be serving her Open Door Fellowship summer with the North Carolina Innocence Inquiry Commission under the supervision of Susan Brooks.
