The Education Law Section promotes education and networking among attorneys serving K-12 schools, colleges, administrators, employees, faculty and students. It provides broad coverage of legal perspectives and values the viewpoints of both management and public education employee representatives. The section focuses on issues including the Excellent Schools Act, education financing and employment and develops programs to reach higher education attorneys. It also sponsors CLE programs and helps mold NCBA’s legislative agenda for presentation to the General Assembly.
Members receive discounted CLE opportunities, access to a members-only online community forum and invitations to networking socials, panel discussions and Lunch & Learns. The section also offers practice-specific blogs, legislative and policy updates, ethics guidance and opportunities to engage in pro bono work, providing meaningful ways to grow professionally while supporting the broader legal community.

The Ann L. Majestic Distinguished Service Award recognizes an attorney’s outstanding leadership and longevity of service in the field of education.
The Section Council is pleased to offer a limited number of scholarships for law students interested in attending the Education Law Section Annual Program. The scholarships will pay for NCBA law student members’ program registration fee.
