Retired partner Corby Cochran Anderson of Bradley Arant Boult Cummings in Charlotte received the 2021 Ayscue Professionalism Award from the Mecklenburg County Bar in December. The award recognizes a current or former MCB member for exemplary professionalism through outstanding service to the MCB and the community and embodiment of the traits to which all attorneys should aspire.
Partner Melissa Dewey Brumback of Ragsdale Liggett in Raleigh has been accepted into the Neutrals Roster of the American Arbitration Association (AAA-ICDR) in construction law. Membership is subject to peer nomination and review process where an applicant is rated on expertise, knowledge, mastery and proficiency in a particular field.
Gina M. Von Oehsen Cleary, who serves of counsel to Cranfill Sumner in Raleigh, has been named a Senior Fellow by the Litigation Counsel of America (LCA). The LCA is an invitation-only trial lawyer honorary society comprised of less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers.
Joslin Davis, who serves of counsel to Allman Spry Davis Leggett & Crumpler in Winston-Salem, received the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyer’s Professionalism Award in November. The award is presented to a lawyer who has consistently exhibited the highest level of professionalism in the practice of law.
John Huggard, senior partner of Huggard, Obiol & Blake in Raleigh, recently published three books on the Uniform Commercial Code: The Law of Sales, Negotiable Instruments Law (Carolina Academic Press) and The Law of Leasing Under UCC Article 2A (Thomson Reuters). He is retired from N.C. State University, where he taught for 29 years and as an Alumni Distinguished Professor.
Harrison Lord, founder and managing member of Lord Law Firm in Charlotte, has accepted an invitation into the International Association of Defense Counsel, an invitation-only global legal organization for attorneys who represent corporate and insurance interests. He is an active member of the NCBA and past chair of the Young Lawyers Division.
