Feeding Frenzy Champions Repeat

The results of the 2015 North Carolina Legal Feeding Frenzy, conducted by the Young Lawyers Division in conjunction with North Carolina Feeding America Food Banks, are in.

Attorney General Roy Cooper, honorary chair, recognized category winners and the recipient of the Attorney General’s Cup on Wednesday, April 22, at the N.C. Bar Center.

Overall, nearly 300,000 pounds of food was collected and it is safe to say and none of last year’s winners rested on their laurels. Each of this year’s champions is a repeat winner and several are being honored for the third consecutive year.

Mason Law Office, PLLC of Chapel Hill once again led the charge by contributing the most pounds of food per person, 5,037.5 pounds. For its efforts, Mason Law Office received its second Attorney General’s Cup. Tonya Mason accepted on behalf of the firm.

In the Solo Practitioner category (1-10 employees), Simonsen Law Firm, PC of Edenton became a three-time champion by contributing 2,600 pounds of food per person. Lars Simonsen accepted on behalf of the firm.

In the Small Firm division (11-50 employees), Rose, Harrison & Gilreath, P.C. of Kill Devil Hills prevailed for the second consecutive year with 3,268.2 pounds of food per person. Peebles Harrison accepted on behalf of the firm.

In the Medium Firm category (51-100 employees), Bell, Davis & Pitt, P.A. was the winner for the second consecutive year with 83.03 pounds of food per person. Virginia Pleasants accepted on behalf of the firm.

In the Large Firm division (101 employees and up), Moore & Van Allen PLLC became a three-time champion with 115.15 pounds of food per person. Wilson Loftis accepted on behalf of the firm.

The Wake Forest University School of Law once again led the way in the Law School division with 15.98 pounds of food per person. Ann Gibbs accepted on behalf of the law school.

The largest overall contributor, irrespective of the number of pounds of food donated per employee, was Womble, Carlyle, Sandridge & Rice which contributed 85,003.13 pounds of food. Womble Carlyle also won this category last year. Anna Short and Mason Freeman accepted on behalf of the firm.

Wilson Loftis chaired the YLD Legal Feeding Frenzy Committee this year.
