Ugly Sweaters, A Beautiful Cause

Usher in the holiday season and support a worthy cause by participating in the inaugural Ugly Holiday Sweater 5K on Saturday, Dec. 9, at Dorothea Dix Park in Raleigh. Proceeds from the event will benefit the North Carolina Lawyers for Entrepreneurs Assistance Program, better known as NC LEAP, which provides free legal assistance to low-wealth entrepreneurs and inventors.

The event is open to the public and sponsored by the Young Lawyers Division of the North Carolina Bar Association and the North Carolina Bar Foundation, under which NC LEAP is administered across the state.

“Entrepreneurs are vital to North Carolina’s economy, but are often forgotten in terms of pro bono services,” said Leah Hermiller of Raleigh, event coordinator and chair of the YLD Membership & Networking Committee. “I hope everyone will join us for what promises to be a rewarding and enjoyable event.”

Whether you consider yourself a competitive runner, a casual jogger, or a walker of any form or fashion, the Ugly Holiday Sweater 5K is for you. In addition to prizes for the top finishers and ugliest sweaters, food, fun and fellowship await everyone who shows up for this inaugural event.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the race starts at 9 a.m. Click here to register and click here to learn more about becoming a sponsor.

For more than a decade, North Carolina lawyers have given freely of their time and talent in support of NC LEAP, which in turn has been able to coordinate pro bono legal services for more than 3,500 low-wealth entrepreneurs in North Carolina.

Let’s run to help others LEAP!
